Some of you may know this company. For those that do not, they are behind an OFF-LINE voice recognition that grew out of Dragon Systems.

Speech recognition pioneer Novauris bought by Apple

Apple bought them last year, but just NOW confirmed that they did. The implications of this are that they are looking to beef up Siri's off-line abilities. To me, this is significant. There are often times where I don't have cell or WiFi. Having an assistant that is impervious to this flaw is big to me. Does anyone know if Cortana has an off-line mode as well? If she does and can still do some functions (I figure she won't be able to do all her network-based functions) I'll breathe a little easier. Otherwise, I'll be concerned for Cortana. Seems she should still be able to do SOME things. Hopefully she is not 100% dependent on an Internet connection. I know the current VR in WP is.

*Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move. Thank you.

Sadly cortana is still in beta stage , it requires steady internet connection to get bing search results , weather , flight data etc. true , in windows phone 8.0 tell me works offline so hoping when she is out of beta it will work offline with limited functionality.
