Just a discussion for fun...

Question:
Do you deny that the internet runs your life?
Are you in control or does the web control you?

Full blown addict and won't deny it. Spend far too long on mobile devices and other things.

I would say it does to a point. It's a great form of both information and entertainment for me. I also get lost in the YouTube recommended loop a LOT. Sometimes I find good channels out of it though but whoa that loop can be good and bad.

I know when to shut off but actually doing it is easier some days over others.

I don't consider myself an addict. The internet is just the way I keep informed be it news, forums, shopping, entertainment...etc.

I got rid of cable AND t.v. a little over 3 years ago.
Got tired of running around town shopping for something I wanted only to find whatever I wanted was rarely in stock (thus my mostly shopping online --- except groceries).

The internet is my entertainment (Netflix, YouTube, etc...). It's my vessel for keeping informed from several news sources (local, national, international) .... It's where I can by things I want/need and have them delivered to my door (convenience)...

...It can be somewhat overwhelming if I let it ... but I believe I'm disciplined in that it's not something that I have withdrawl pangs if I go without. It isn't my life ... but it does play a big part of it. I know I won't die if it was suddenly gone.

...to me, the internet is much more than sitting in front of a t.v. half the day ... 50+ channels ...

The internet is fascinating ... but I know it can be dangerous in a sense because of social media ... information overload ... fake news - real news reported as fake - fake news reported as real ... good lord it can be overwhelming.

I enjoy my time online most of the time. I prefer it over cable t.v.

I agree Mark!

I do so love internet...yet I also blame it (or an addiction to it) for a lot of social problems.
Not being a Facebook or Twitter user I think I avoid much of the trending hatred that can be a guiding force for some.

I am a newer Instagram user and do enjoy it, yet I have involved myself in a few places that probably aren't helping me to remain in a calm state.
Thank goodness for the block feature on there plus when I get tired I have no problem simply closing the app and staying away.

I'm not an addict...I can quit anytime I want...

When I am at home or work, I am surrounded by computers and an internet connection, so I'll definitely spent a ton of time online.

However, when I am out and about, I increasingly feel weary about being glued to my smartphone. I'm spending a lot more time in restaurants with my phone in my pocket these days.

Yes... ☹

I don't use Facebook but am hooked on Twitter for news, etc. The recent U.S. election has me wondering if I should leave Twitter. Its turned into a bastion of crazies!

I feel another autobiography coming... lol. I usually write somewhat long posts, it's kinda of a habit.

If you were to ask me the same question last year I would've said NO!

But now that I'm on the internet 24/7 I have to admit it!

I don't know if anyone here seen my post a while back from last year but from January to about June or July (2016) I actually disconnected myself from ALL social media, all forums (Including WC and AC), every texting app, and anything that connects to the internet... EXCEPT my Roku which had Netflix, as we no longer have and need cable.

It was very hard to do but within a month, I was well adjusted to it and didn't plan on going back! (It was only suppose to be for 100 days)

So back then? NO! I was living the goooood life, lol.

Today? My personal life and job depends on me having internet access, so Yes!
