"Internet Explorer is dead. It won't be missed"

So I was reading some articles about Spartan, and I came across this article. Seems like these guys are very very new to tech blogging, and their first article is about Internet explorer. What do you guys think?

Internet Explorer could end as soon as Windows 10 is released, in favour of a brand new browser named ?Spartan?. Another Halo reference, maybe? The news broke out back in September 2014, when undisclosed sources that are very close to Mary Jo Foley, had hinted about ?Spartan?. But recent leaks and reports[1] suggests that the new ?lightweight? browser, Spartan could be shipped right along the legendary Internet Explorer, which just don?t die.

So it isn?t exactly dead.

For now.

The SNEAKY BYTE: It is also reported that Spartan will also inherit the same, or maybe the similar engines that power and run Internet Explorer[4]. Same engine, different hood? Or the developers are too lazy to build from scratch? Only time will tell.

It could only be an internal type name? But MS wouldn't just kill off IE like that.. Let's see what they say on the 21st

Well, IE is a little stale because of all the legacy support. A new lightweight browser is definitely something that is desperately needed.

But the "sneaky byte" part of that text shows that they have no idea what are they talking about.

All sources point to 2 browsers being available in W10: Spartan, as the new, lightweight one that will be a universal app across big and mobile windows devices, and IE11/12, which will be kept only in big windows for backwards compatibility.

We still don't know what the official name of Spartan will be, but don't forget the following: both IE and Spartan will use the same Trident engine, just 2 different versions. So, technically, it might be possible that if MS doesn't ship 2 browsers, that 1 browser will be able to switch rendering Trident engines from the newer one to the older one whenever needed.

Either way, seems like IE will still be there in W10 for now. Maybe in a couple years they'll fade it out in favor of the new browser - regardless of their keeping both trident engines or not. In any case, don't think it's that hard that MS would drop the IE name: they've been trying to clean up its name since IE9 and 4 years later, IE still has a bad name in general. MS seems to finally have realized that maybe it's easier to cut and start over clean with a new brand, which Nadella seems very eager to do these days. Notice how they scrapped plans to add the start menu and windowed modern apps to windows 8.2 because they considered the brand too tarnished at this point, and it's just easier to put all the new goodies in a new Windows 10 brand. See what I mean?

I don't think it will. Microsoft needs a mobile platform in order to compete in this modern world. Also, what the tech pundits don't realize is that even a 3% market of billions of devices is quite a large market, though nothing compared to the other players' massive shares. Even then, when you're that small, all you can do is grow, so there's no harm in keeping the effort.
