iPhone --> Lumia 920: MAKING THE LEAP/ PRAY FOR ME

I have done a ton of research into this. I think it is POSSBILE (Possible meaning you take risks of bricking your device) to get your ATT Lumia to run the 1700 MHZ band. Developers on XDA are realizing that ATT just shut the hardware for that frequency off in their software. Inherently, you would have to attempt to install rogers software to an ATT lumia 920. From what I read though, it is a 50/50 chance of it not working.

However, understand there are few more threads here and is off topic.
It is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you do a lot of research into how to install roms on the device.

Hello Apple brother,

Can I ask what exactly bothered you about the iTunes/Apple system and in way the Nokia fixed it? Also, any sync problems to your (presumed) mac system, etc?

Oh and what's iTools? (A google search reveals that it's an iPhone/iPad manager. Not sure exactly what that means for the Nokia? Is it a replacement app for your iTunes or a supplement just for your iTunes?

My friend, what bothered me with i(crappy)Tunes is the fact that it is syncing everything to the phone. Several times had it deleted everything from the phone. Luckily I had spare backups. I do not own a Mac, I am a Windows PC guy. And, I am used to thinking of files like Total Commander (copy/paste/cut/delete), doing everything single file, without the need of the software to refresh the whole system. So that is idiotic for me. Imagine the situation u want 18 songs from the phone deleted, 5 new to add, and possibly to reorder some songs in the playlist that is a pain in the ***.
With L920, u access ur phone just like any USB flash drive delete what u want, add what u want, and reorder whatever u need.
The iTools app does exactly this - u do everything in a simpler way.

I agree,
In short, iTunes is a lot easier for iOS and WP when you manage and play music using it,
but if you're not, then it's a lot of hassle.

Also, any good MAP apps I should be jumping on or is the standard Nokia one the best for this phone?

Alright, I've been getting to know this objectively AWESOME little device over the past couple of days and I definitely don't regret the buy. Holy crap is it fast compared to my ole iPhone 3. And sleek and intuitive. Music & Podcast (which were my big worry) haven't been a problem at all with the Windows Phone App for Apple... so thank you, folks!

I just have a few new questions that I haven't been able to find an answer to just yet, if anyone has any input on them.

TWITTER SYNC
I'd really like to keep my Twitter separate from my Facebook & contacts. It has a couple of thousand of followers that aren't related to my friends and family and I don't want to have them all in my contacts. What's the best way to do that?

'LIVE' INTERNET TILE
I love that I can make a tile of websites I visit a lot (Gawker, HuffPo) by pinning them but is there a way to make a live tile out of this? That will update and change its cover to the current top story? Right now the tile is frozen to the site how it was pinned.

HOME WIFI
This one is really frustrating. I can see my home wifi network on there and the phone picks it up at full strength but for some reason my password won't validate. (And I've tried it about three dozen times, verified that it's the same I use for my desktop and laptop in terms of formatting, etc but it just doesn't connect. Wtfunk?

'XBOX MUSIC + VIDEO' or NOKIA MUSIC
My music uploaded to both and I'm wondering which one to make my "main" music player? I'm having a hard time seeing a difference between the two as of right now.

Is there an app for this? Most of my MP3s are coverless and I'd love to spruce 'em up. There was an option to do this through the WP App while synching. but for some reason it didn't work for me. Any alternatives.

This one's a bit strange but the e-mails read and filed away in the linked inboxes don't appear as read when I later check my actual gmail.

I moved from the iPhone 5 to the Lumia 920 and have never looked back. When I try a friend's iPhone I realise the interface is just a static grid of app icons. That's it. WP's tiles are so much better!

As for music, I do use iTunes but have recently started using Google Play. You can get a little app for your PC or Mac which uploads/matches your music in the Google cloud and continually watches for new music you might add to your system - you can have it watch folders, or iTunes. There are two Google Play clients for WP, Gooroovester (see the Facebook page for beta info) and CloudMuzik. These apps make all your music accessible on your WP via the cloud. The best bit is it's free!

So far I have found this works better than iTunes Match on the iPhone.

I would advise you use the Twitter app and remove Twitter from your People Hub. Go into Settings > Email+Accounts > There should be a way to remove Twitter from there. I know I did this with my Yahoo! email once because I was having problems with it. Can't remember exactly HOW to remove, but I'm sure you can find it in there.

You might want to sync your music with your computer's Windows Media Player... I managed to get some album art that I was missing by using that. Or are you using a Mac(??).

Go to People Hub, Settings, then 'Filter Contacts' and uncheck Twitter.

I never experienced this issue with WIFI, my password has always worked fine. Maybe the security encryption type you're currently using isnt supported on WP8?

I feel the exact same. Everyone was going crazy of Nokia music but i dont see the major difference.

Same. Although i've uploaded my music from iTunes with album covers on my Lumia they didnt show up. Turn on Xbox Music Cloud (settings) for a bit, go through your music collection. Some of my more popular music loaded the album cover and artist pictures, but my more obscure music is just blank. If this doesnt work, unfortunately i think the only alternative is saving a jpg of the album cover under the album folder in your phone. lame really.

Yup theres an app for this called 'MPAtool' and its free It lets you add album artwork and backgrounds for artists

Nope.... It's still out of sync with the bing search page (which today is a red fish). I'm mysteriously seeing a sandy beach/mountain filled with umbrellas that's been on there for a couple of days now. :/
