iPhone to block incoming texts while driving.

I think it would be better if Apple took a page from the Microsoft playbook and allowed you to have Siri read the text to you, then allow you to reply hands-free.

From the article:
Passengers who are just riding will have the ability to indicate that they are not driving and disable the feature.

Offensive drivers (which are 90% on the road) will just disable the feature.

I don't understand why it's necessary to receive texts in any form while driving. If someone needs to get ahold of you in an emergency, they can call you and you answer via Bluetooth over your audio system. Otherwise pay attention to driving. JMHO.

I don't understand this part, could you elaborate?

Snapchat prevents teenagers from saying or doing things in social situations, adults have learnt to avoid. It operates as their commonsense, by making private and temporary all their online interactions, so they don't have to vet themselves, like a person does in normal adult social situations.

This is similar. It prevents people from looking at texts on their phone, so that they don't have to self-regulate that behaviour themselves.

It's sort of a nanny feature.
