Is a screen guard necessary on the Lumia 620?

And also make sure to buy a good one. I personally like glossy ones over matte, it's makes photos looks better also when playing games or videos

clear screenguards don't really do much to prevent scratches but of course better colors

Go Screen protector. it has the Exact same Hairline scratch issue as my 920. I've only had my 620 for about a week. I never keep keeps in the same pocket, etc. Hairline scratches easy.

If you have a good case on it that offers a bit of a buffer for the screen, I'd say no.

after 2 weeks i did notice a hairline scratch on my phone after very delicate use because of 1 mistake
so it is better to get a screen guard since i live in the UAE lumia screen protectors are tough to find but i got really lucky
so i have been using it for about 2 monts now and i notice light scratches on the screen guard so it is better for u to get one cause if i hadn't got a screen guard right away my phone would have had lots of scratches so be aware
