Is Apple licensing HERE maps?

Hey everyone

I just downloaded OSX Mavericks and fired up the Maps app just to check how good they are...and to my surprise, they look just like HERE maps, ditto except for the standard view where they have changed the color scheme a bit. I even checked their 3D maps for san francisco and new york and it just left me baffled. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Wikipedia isn't always reliable, but it does not mention anything about Apple Maps being anything other than an in-house product.
