Hello . I was using L820 since 2,5 Years . few days ago i found a very cheap lumia 640XL LTE with broken glass. Phone has arrived today , there isnt any problem with touch and LCD (Even small light bleeding issue doesnt exists) . So i want to change screen and use it.
I checked complete LCD + Glass replacements , original screen price is very high . then checked aliexpress screens but people say double tap 2 wake doesnt works and replacement screen causes freezing and random rebooting.
Then i checked glass price it was cheap, watched a lot of glass replacements (with LOCA) on youtube , it didnt seem too hard.
But i wonder , is digitizer on LCD (like iphones and samsungs) or on GLASS(like Lumia630). There is no digitizer on aliexpress glasses , but im not sure.
This is the glass i found : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/A-H...42.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.293.Bxzfek
Will touch work after glass only replacement ?

I ordered loca glue , 640XL glass and UV lamp . I will update status in this thread again after they arrived and i attempted to change glass.

Keep us posted. Frankly I don't know. When I had to repair my 640's display I replaced the entire assembly.

I had a screen broken Lumia 525. I tried replacing glass, which is hard to do. Finally after replacing it my touch doesn't worked properly.

L525 have seperated glass and lcd , digitizer layer is glued on glass. On lumia 640XL (including 730/5 , 830 , 930 etc.) glass and lcd is bonded together with LOCA glue. so probably glass is just glass , digitizer layer has glued to LCD. We will see when my parts has arrived.
UV light and loca glue has arrived. Still waiting glass to arrive.

Now i have to completely change screen... Since i cant stop my hands , i just pressed to screen...

i removed screen from phone to find out information about digitizer layer.
Digitizer is on LCD layer as i thought (like iphone , samsung devices and lumia 730,720,930 etc.) , so glass only replacement is possible (if LCD works).
But the thing is LCD is extremely thin. Even with 100C heat and soft playing card , LCD layer has shattered into thousand piece. So even it is possible , i dont recommend glass only replacement (if you dont have any experiment)

My wife and I both dropped our 520's-each screen broke.
I replaced both screens, success with one and no luck with the other.....
