Is it just me or does Internet Explorer 11 crash frequently?

Heya
Is it just me or Windows central website likes to crash frequently on my HP Envy running 8.1?
Everything is up to date, when I try to load this website I get 2 errors on a regular basis.
1. not responding due to a long running script ( button says stop script)
2 Not responding ( button says recover web page).

these 2 just ruin my browsing experience. Is there something I can do to fix it. I like IE better than other browsers, so hopefully one of the suggestions is not to switch

Switch if you have to but try to clear the browser cache and do a browser reset. Don't forget that after the reset you go into "manage add-ons" and re-enable them.

Not just frequently, constantly. Switch to Google Chrome for a better experience. And disable Internet Explorer altogether

Better as in more lag and crashes? Because that's what I get.


To the OP: Have you tried TPL? Those long running scripts might be adverts.

Interestingly, it seems to vary.

I have an old laptop with 8.1, and IE on that is very finicky, I often fall back on Firefox.
On the Surface Pro however, IE flies and I never think about Firefox or Chrome.
Weird.

Admittedly though, the laptop developed some issues however, which I'll eventually have to tackle.
