To create a gamertag you only need to login in the xbox site, you browser/computer/connection is the problem. Sort it out

I can't log into xbox site, it crashes every time. See above for details. My browser/computer/connection is not a problem.

How about creating a new MS ID as an alias to your original ID and logging in with the alias?

I even contacted xbox support (this step is only recommended for masochists). They brushed me off with the usual line they give when they don't have a clue, "our servers have been having trouble lately, can you try again in a couple hours?". I've been trying for a year.

Have you tried creating a new live account and then transferring details? As I previously asked.

You could create a new one and at least try it to see if everything thing works and you can get a Xbox account. Then look at transferring your old purchasers etc across.

It's a pain in the *** I know. I've had a problem in the past, Support is very helpful as long as its a simple/known fix for them. But if it's a small percentage problem which to them it isn't worth the cost of figuring out out, that's when you get the endless useless solutions.
