Lumia device encryption and VPN setup

Hi all

Is it possible to encrypt a Lumia 920 device with windows phone 8.1 for a regular student user like me? This was so simple on my Nokia N8, now I don't have a clue.

I'm also wondering if there's any chance for me to set up a VPN connection with the same device. Here I don't have a clue either, but I'm looking for something similar to what I'm using on my laptop i.e IPredator/FrootVPN.

Thanks in advance

Re: Lumia device encryption and VPN setup

At the moment the mainstream operating systems that are offering encryption are Android and iOS for consumers.

Full device encryption is possible on Windows Phone, but last I checked it was only available for businesses.

There are very few quality VPNs for Windows Phone, and even fewer quality free ones, but something you could try would be VPN in Touch.

Was it necessary to bring in Android and ios in here, while offering the user a solution? He clearly mentioned he has a WP. Stop this disruptive posting.

I don't know about encryption in wp
I feel you about N8 I had 808pv before and i really enjoyed that about Symbian

... About the vpn you can try some stuff , like vpn in touch application could be found in the store .
Or even better try hide.me .. It's simply amazing , it gives you a 2GB as free users with the ability to upgrade to premium or plus

Hope this helped

The purpose of mentioning Android and iOS here was merely to tell him that if the feature was extremely important to him, he could get it in other OSes(like he mentioned Symbian).

I gave him his solution and I tried my best to avoid any flame wars while providing him with a small tidbit.

I suppose you'll find a fault with all of my threads because you can't bear to hear any criticism about Windows Phone. We'll let me tell you one thing, if I really wanted to start a flame war I could've mentioned how much better VPNs are on Android(but I didn't).

Get over it.

I don't think he was being disruptive. If you follow technology news, since iOS 8, Apple now encrypts the entire file system, and that function has been added to Android as well. Microsoft said that they will be introducing full device encryption. I'm guessing it will be a feature of Windows 10 phones.
