I upgraded from a 1020 to 950 and it's better in almost every way. The camera is a downgrade in taking pictures of still objects. It's just not that sharp and doesn't focus as well as it should. But regular pictures almost always come out (or can be taken at all) since the camera is so much faster. Everything is much, much faster, really.
It seems like the biggest problems can be fixed with software updates. And since those are coming every month or so, it's likely to be better soon.
