Is there another way to take contacts off a lumia phone following a set up error?

I know what my mate has done but can't find a fix. When turning a Lumia on for the first time he has GUESSED the Microsoft account thereby locking it to a fictitious email account. Then spent a week keying in 100+ contacts. I've set up a genuine outlook.com account and added that account hoping the sync would work.

I know that only a hard reset will unlink the original Microsoft account but I need to think about a last ditch effort to save the contacts.

Any help would be appreciated.

When reading your concern, the only thing that comes to mind is GUESSING yourself into the account through the website, go to the contacts section and export all the contacts into an excel file.
