Is there really no glance or double tap?

I was going to buy this phone, but that's a deal breaker. Can anyone confirm this?

The Lumia 520 didn't have the double tab feature but the black update brought it to the device
So the icon might get it in a next update

Btw windows phone 8.1 will bring its own version of double tab to all windows devices so the icon might get it then

The Icon lacks both glance & double tap.

Unfortunately, that didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. That article basically just mentioned that glance was updated for 8.1, which we already knew would happen. Doesn't for sure tell us whether or not the Icon will be compatible with Glance.

for reasons unknown, the Icon does not have either. Theres a possibility that it will appear in the future, but its unclear.

Rumored by who? The SDK is already out. And there's no glance or double tap for non-Lumia's. It's a jumbled rumor. Nokia needs to provide it for Icon or it's not happening.

I think you are reading it backwards to say that 8.1 supports glance.

This article is simply saying that the Glance app was updated to support the new WP 8.1 OS. The way I understand this, if you have the Glance app, and want it to work on WP 8.1, you have to install the update. If your phone does not support the app, then the update is simply not available.
