Is USB-C held back for the Surface Pro

The general consensus seems to be there should have been at least one usb-c port on the Surface laptop. I think the reason for not doing this is they are trying to keep the surface pro as the premium device even though this is quite pricey for the spec. I think any new features and ports will be given to surface pro's and then trickle into other devices afterwards.

This is for students and classrooms. That's what it was designed for, so it uses a standard USB port.
