Is your arrive heating up after a phone call?

My arrive is starting to give off heat. I got it on wednesday of this week. After a 5 or 10 minute phone call, the back of phone becomes warm and gives off heat. Are others experience these heat issues? I had a Pre, and it became hot too. I'm starting to think Sprint phones like to give off heat, maybe it is frequency?

Try not to touch near the screw area on the bottom of the phone as that's where the antenna is. I find that mine overheats when using the data connection which is probably due to the towers in my area being worked on so the antenna has to work harder to maintain the signal thus generating heat.

I believe CDMA phones use more energy than GSM radio wise. All my Verizon phones used to get super warm during phone calls or even a lot of texting.

I have noticed that my Arrive feels quite warm to the touch while using the Navigation app. For long stretches where I don't use it but want it on I turn off the screen and that seems to help.

My arrive has started doing that -- I often feel it in my pocket getting all warm. And then the battery life plummets. After about 90 minutes, I can drain the entire thing. Since WP7 doesn't seem to notify you when you're battery is low, I just reach into my pocket to find my phone turned off.

I am not sure if it has to do with making calls or what. I haven't really noticed a pattern. But it just happened a few minutes ago...

I returned my first Arrive because too hot

I noted this heating and returned my first Arrive to the Sprint store. First I exchanged the battery and they swapped it. Then I returned the unit. The second unit is just as hot. I read on a thread that you can open the keyboard to allow it to cool a little while using radio. This helps but it is the hottest phone I have ever had. Still, I love it. When I use wifi it doesn't seem to get hot.

I've had these overheating problems on HTC devices on Sprint for years. The Touch Diamond was the worst, way worse than the Arrive.

yea I remember my TP would get really hot even when using WiFi. Then the battery would die when on the charger and wouldn't charge till half an hour after death. Haven't seen that on my tp2 or arrive yet

With respect to my battery plummeting problem, I now suspect that it happens -- maybe 100% of the time -- after I launch the "Windows Phone News" application. Even after returning to the Start Screen, my phone will heat up and battery will drain super-fast.

Too bad, because this is a great little RSS app.

I think if I launch enough apps thereafter, it may unload whatever is running from memory, and then my phone goes back to normal.

Anyone else have this problem?

My Arrive heats up quite often. Was on an hour long conference call this morning and it was fine. But as soon as I start loading IE/facebook/apps it gets pretty warm.

Really my only complaint with the device. I can literally feel the heat in my pocket, lol. The arrive isn't just a phone, it's a hand warmer in the winter!!!

My Arrive does get warm when I use the data connection for web surfing or Navi but is cool during phone calls. My old Pre and Samsung Moment did the same thing so i wouldn't think too much of it.
