Just got the firmware update for the Surface 3... one odd effect is that the Surface logo is now gone on startup. It says "Surface" for a moment, and then is replaced by the standard blue Windows logo during loading. I wonder if that was a bug?

I don't know it that's an issue or not. But some people with SP3 have encountered serious problems with this update. I haven't read of similar problems for the S3, but I think I'm going to hold off until I'm sure that S3 is not affected.

UPDATED: I've been following the thread below. Someone has found a solution. The problem involves the Pen driver. Seem to happen only on SP3. They've been removing the pen driver and rolling it back.

So after reading about that, I let my S3 install the firmware update. It installed very quickly, and so far I've had no problems.

My surface 3 works MUCH better since the firmware updates both in desktop/notebook and in tablet mode. Keyboard is more responsive, touch is much better. Overall system speed is better, not sure on battery life yet. I will report back...Same with sound quality. But overall, the s3 is much smoother now.

No issues with my S3 after the update. It seems to handle well in all respects. Admittedly, my S3 is a companion device so I may not be putting it through the paces some are, but overall I have no complaints at all.

I think I'm seeing the same thing here.
