The grass is not always greener on the other side.

First of all, I jumped NOT because of any deficiencies in WP. I jumped due to lack of handsets that were what I was looking for, i.e. a ruggedized, waterproof handset that didn't look like it was made in some cartoon lab somewhere. Also, the battery on my N928 was dieing by about 1 or 2pm everyday.

Second, while I understand all the customization you can do in Droid, quite honestly, I don't care about them. Most likely since the device is still new to me and I am still setting it up, but after almost a week, there are still settings and tweaks I find myself doing. WP does so many things naturally and intuitavely, I keep asking myself "Why doesn't this do this???"

Don't even get me started on the mess that is volume controls and do not disturb type settings. The bluetooth pass thru in my car's nav/audio system is barely useable. On the other hand, there are many things that I do like. Bluetooth seems to stay connected better and I am getting notifications on my bluetooth connected Fitbit for caller ID. FB seems to work better.

Other than that, to me, it seems that for all the accolades that Droid has, it seems "rougher" and not as polished as WP.

I sure hope more hardware manufacturers jump on board WP.

So...if you were looking for a waterproof phone, why buy one that's not waterproof?

You said you wanted a waterproof rugged phone is why you switched...the Droid isn't waterproof.

I think he was saying droid in the generic sense, ie, a phone running Android.

Not necessarily a Motorola Droid.

Been using the LG G4 alongside my Lumia 1520. I found myself purchasing the LG G Watch R and installing Android Auto in my car ( Head unit that mirrors your phones display in a easy to use interface designed by google giving me navigation via Google Maps and playing spotify whilst controlling this all from my steering wheel etc. Its so good love the convinience and using a smartwatch cant live without it anymore. Been waiting for new flagships and the city man and talkman all look good nd i was excited for them then i remembered hardware will be brilliant but the OS is still lacking in certain API's and developer support which means i wont enjoy a proper smartwatch nor use my head unit. I just ordered the Galaxy Note 5 and i think this will be my offical goodbye to windows. i love it though nd hope to return in two years when everything is more robust nd plenty quality apps. i had doing this, still gonna keep my Lumia 1520 just to keep track of developer preview builds

I believe the ATT S5 Active is waterproof, or at least resistant. I switched from a android to windows phone and I am happy.
I have used the Lumia Icon, 928, and the 1520. I am using a 640 XL as my every day phone and happy. most likely going to sell all of them as they served their purpose. IN the mean time in plan on staying with the 640 XL unless I am find a reason to upgrade.

The OP has every right to get whatever brand or OS he feels gives him the best set of features based on HIS needs, not ours. Unless someone has documented proof of an entire Kyocera line being defective throughout, let's stay away from the brand bashing. It's not constructive and it certainly isn't what we stand for.

I'll agree with the OPs assessment. I've juggled a few phones around while my 1520 is getting repaired.

What has shocked me is I put WP8.1 on the top followed by iOS, android and WP 10 on the bottom. WP 10 reminds me of android without the maturity, app availability or customizations.

It remains to be seen but I don't think WP 10 made it to the bottom because it's still a TP.

I switched from Windows Phone 8 to Android Kitkat last year.
I didn't switch because i didn't like Windows, but because i buy a new phone every year and sell my old one.
Kitkat has been quite a sweet experience for the most part. Smooth, no lag, lots of apps, lots of customization, etc.
Android and Windows Phone are indeed very different beasts and both are good.
Now whether my next phone in 2016 will be Android or WP10 will depend on whether Microsoft can hit home run with WP10 OS and great phones or get drowned in mediocrity.

.

The major changes, for me, from Windows 8 to 8.1 turned me away from WP. What I loved from WP7 and 8, was removed and completely changed...and removed all the unique OS design.
