Just how many Windows Phone users are out there.?

With WP making it to 3.3% market share, thought I'd ask this. Its interesting to note how a lot of the popular comments in this post (facebook.com/verge/posts/674546025915077) own a Lumia.? Even saw one user who currently plans on ditching his Nexus 5 for a Lumia. I'd love to hear your thought on this.

I've got a couple of friends thinking of making the switch solely because of Windows Phone's presence online.

Just in case some of you don't know, this is The Verge. Trust me their readers are not MSFT/Nokia/WP fan boys. Its a diverse community while the site, IMHO, has a soft corner for all things Apple.

The smartphone showdown at GSMarena was rather interesting too. I had to admit their reader base was probably pro Windows Phone because they voted the 520 better than the HTC One.

I'm guessing 3.3%. or 5.5%. its whatever source you can find quotes from. those numbers vary wildly.
