I dont care that the NSA knows I tell my wife I love her or that I am heading to my parents for dinner. I think people who are really upset about this actually have something to hide like the missile in their garage or the escort they will encounter this weekend on their "Business" trip.

I know that many tech companies are making an effort to encrypt data and set limits on their technology sp that they wouldn't be able to get the personal info even if they wanted to.

Responses like this scare me.
And I agree with radmanvr. I don't care either. You can do as much as you want for privacy, but any for the most part any assurance it gives you is imagined. You're connected; your information is available. The extra steps you go to for increased security are still no obstacle to the powers that be. A cement block is harder to pick up than a brick, but it's still relatively easy to carry.
That was quite a leap you attempted there. You don't mind sending me photos of your wife naked then, right? And your credit card bills, phone records, browsing history, oh, and if you don't mind, I'll use the Kinect to watch your kids at all times in your own home.

No it's not. All of those things have happened. When you're saying "I have nothing to hide" you're saying that you are comfortable with those things.
Did you read the originally posted material? The British were collecting massive amounts of private, intimate (sexual) video chats. It's pretty clear phone and credit card companies have been compromised, and The Guardian is reporting that this same program looked into compromising the Kinect. Bets on when it comes out that they did?
