  1. For some reason, both Storage Sense and Storage check show that I have 3.6GB in Photos. I only have one photo on my phone. By any chance, does it include photos in FB and One Drive? These are both albums on the phone.
  2. I cannot create folders on the Start Screen. When I move a tile over another, the second one just moves around.
  3. How do you turn on WiFi Sense?
  4. There is no longer a sound when a voicemail is left. Is there an option for this?
  5. How do I make the tiles on the Start Screen transparent?

Thanks

2. Live folders is not part of 8.1/cyan. It is part of a later upgrade that you can get by going to the developer preview.

1. I don't think it should show it
2. Your update must be 8.1.1 (assume you got that one) Make one tile wider (max size) then bring the other one on it, this way it's bit easier
3. Go to settings > Wi-Fi, scroll down...
4. Pass
5. Settings > start + theme... Choose photo.. Now they're (some) transparent

1. Yes. Files from OneDrive should not take any space from your phone. They are in/on cloud. Same with FB. You sure its not 3.6Mb but 3.6Gb? Because one picture could be 3.6Mb
2. 8.10.1457.200 this what I have. Check for more updates. Then try again

Remember don't forget to login in DP program again before you check for update. You might be logged out

For 4, I think you go into Settings, notifications+actions, scroll down to Phone in the list, and make sure Sounds are enabled. I have Banners, Sounds, Vibrations for Phone on mine.

AV2RY:

1- That's what I figured with FB and One Drive ... and YES, it is 3.6GB.
2- I'll look for the Update, but what is the DP Program???

I thank all of you. Except for the issue of the Storage Space (Photos), you've helped me with all issues I have for now.

In as far as developer preview, I have read a bit on it. Two questions (sorry!) 1) Is it safe to hardware, etc.? 2) Does it really effect warranty?

I haven't heard of anyone having hardware issues attributable to the DP GDR1 update. YMMV, of course.

As for the warranty, I haven't heard of Microsoft/Nokia or any carrier denying warranty coverage for people using DP. As AV2RY states, if your phone isn't dead, you can always use NSRT to go back to the production release (which is base Cyan/8.1 for many of us now) before taking it in, if you're really concerned about it.

Thanks to all. I love Windows Phone and my Lumia 920. This forum is great.

I think I'll go for the DP and Update. I'm interested in the tiles, others. Will let you know how it goes or if any problems.

I'm sorry. #1 supposed to be YES :) It's safe. It wont do any harm

Hey, guys. Last night I registered for DP and installed 8.1 Update 1. Enjoying the features. Thanks for all your help.

While I'm at it, are you experiencing more battery drain since updating to 8.1? I certainly am.

Thanks, again.

There are many threads about battery usage in 8.1 and how to make it better. Please check them out.

Well, I guess I must be finally getting the Forum thing. Shortly before your suggestion, I did look into the Forum. Lots of great help. I'll wait a while to see the results.

God bless you.

If you look in Battery Sense, you'll probably find Internet Exploder is your culprit.
Since Update 1, IE seems to be consuming significant battery. (CYAN was superb w battery)

i'll check into it. With 8.0, the discharge rate was never more than 3.5%. I'd sometimes get more than 24 hrs worth. Since the 8.1 and 8.1 Update 1, I've barely made it to 5:00! Rate is 5-7%, and has been in the double digits.

i have turned off all but three backgound tasks.email syncs hrly. Location, cortana, wifi sense is off. Vibration is off.

i've read a lot about the battery, including here. A number of people have said that battery meters actually drain battery (not a problem in 8.0) others say that after updates, it will take a few days/week for battery to stabilize.

Btw: IE is off in Battery Saver.
