Keyboard way too small for me

What this man said. Just go as fast as you can, or reasonably fast, and don't look for mistakes till the very end. You'll be amazed at how well it corrected what you typed, and a few quick word taps to replace and you'll be done. Then its just a matter of time to get better and better. I hand my phone to friends and say type as fast as you can, don't try to be accurate, and they are blown away by the result being so good. For the first time with WP7 I feel I can let go of a physical keyboard. But you have to let the auto correct do its job.

Tried that,,totally bust.

I figured ;),,but I thought I would humor you all,,better luck next time :)

I think as noted earlier, that the 4.3 would be a bare minimum for these moderately
large hands. Dna rules ;)

Dude, it's ok if your finger hits 5 keys at once. As long as the key you want is in the center of where you pressed, it will be the one selected. It sounds like you've never used a touchscreen based keyboard before. I can assure you, the various Android keyboards and the iPhone keyboard are no better. I've used them all extensively. One way or another you'll have to learn if you want a modern smartphone.

Well speed is def. out, at least for now as what I got at the sentence end was utter jibberish. Im clearly not used to smartphones for texting to be sure, but I still think wp7 needs better alternative keyboard layouts, similar to android, which would make a big difference. There is no way to get adequate speed, with such a small area to type on, yet with physical keys, on a very small keyed phone its very easily done because you can use finger nail ends. I would need a stylus to get any decent speed, but maybe my hands are just that much bigger than other peoples here. Real man here <yah ok>

The best one I found was the 'BIG keyboard' on android app marketplace. I still think it would be perfectly doable, unless the api on wp7 doesnt let you use entire screen as say games might..that would be perfect as it would then give more space between keys and be perfect for larger hands.

Thump your chest all you want if you're able to handily generate great text at great speeds with 'large fingers', but I need to see a video of it being done to believe it.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bigbuttons&hl=en < that is what I'm referring to..it at least would have given me a ghost of a chance to hit them ( never tried it, but they are huge), and I can't believe wp7 api doesn't offer the ability to customize this somehow...if not that's a shame, but meh whatever.

I have large fingers (wedding band is size 14) I can certainly understand your frustration I came to WP from a Samsung Galaxy S the screen on my Radar is slightly smaller than my Android but I have found the word prediction to but much better on the WP clearly I still have some typos but I like the speed and overall function of the phone better, plus after using my old phone few times I have found myself making more mistakes on that like hitting the "b" or "n" instead of space. Also I have found the speak to text works REALLY well in a situation like driving or a quick text from home not ideal in every situation but its quite accurate if spoken clearly. Hopefully you can find a phone that works for you good luck and let us know what you end up going with.

Yeesh, that Android keyboard looks awful. Just practice. You will get the hang of it eventually. I was dumbfounded as well when the original iPhone came out, but now I can fly on small touchscreen keyboards. I can cover nearly every key on my Lumia 800 with just my two thumbs, yet it's not a problem.
