Kik's notifications

Just switched to the 928 from an Android phone. Been using Android since the OG Droid, and have used Kik for my texting purposes with my wife nearly the entire time. (She has an iPhone). Anyway the problem is the notifications seem sporadic at best with kik, and most of the time I have to open the app to receive messages I got an hour prior. Sometimes I get notifications of messages I read way earlier than the notification.

Is anyone else having this problem? And is there a free alternative to kik on both iPhone and WP8?

These are known problems of Kik. Unfortunately the developer said will not support WP 8 for now. You can use skype, viber, kakao talk or whatssapp. They are all available for both platforms. You should find one that suits you best but these are some of the best out there.
