Hi,

Can anyone confirm whether VPN L2TP/ipSec works with free l2tp providers? (I don't have a credit card, not do any of my fellow batch mates)

Eg. Freel2tp.com or joyvpn.com

The reason being, several sites have been blocked in my college and in my hostel, I can't get a reliable hispeed data (in fact the city where I live has a pretty snookered network coverage)

I tried hide.me for ike2 connection, but it somehow throttles my bandwidth.

I'm not a fan of free VPN services as they have fewer exit locations, and weak commitments to privacy however I successfully setup pureVPN l2tp/ipsec on my Lumia 1520. Note that L2TP VPN connection requires port 1701 opened on your firewall for both UDP/TCP so make sure you are not behind a firewall that has blocked those ports, otherwise you are not able to make l2tp/ipsec connection on any device.

Thanks, since I just browse lightly I don't need paid ones, yeah ike2 works beautifully and l2tp when it doesn't connect has a variety of bugs. Long loading times, settings page is inaccessible etc.
