L2TP VPN in WP8.1.1 ...... any one had success?

Hi All.

I see that WP8.1.1 dev preview currently enables support for L2TP with IPsec as a VPN option!

This is great!!!! Except for me it doesn't work........

Has anyone else managed to get this to work?

​I have used the instructions from my proxy vendor to fill in all the fields, I have the pre-shared key and everything and no matter what it just refuses to work......over both wifi or cellular. I can connect to the VPN from PC on the same network when using WiFi so I have no issues contacting the VPN server via the network, the WP device just refuses to establish connection. Before the last update I was getting not connected to network error message......now I am getting 809 VPN proxy doesn't have open ports......

While I haven't got a clue of what you're talking about as I use a different VPN standard, I can speculate that since you actually log from PC on that same account maybe your VPN assigns 1 device per account? or maybe you need to log out of your PC if it's connected to VPN before trying this, Or maybe its just badly implemented VPN on MS part. Most of my issues with Microsoft products always had strange funny reason like the time and date which is important (make sure you're using up to the second correct time and date).

Allowed 5 devices connected simultaneously.

Have tried keeping the PC off just to be thorough tho.

​Also have an Android tablet connecting fine but I believe it is using an OpenVPN implementation so in a different ballpark to L2TP with IPsec

Thanks, I just bought a year with this mob :/ Might just see if I can hassel this mob into getting Windows Phone to work and if they don't re-evaluate who i buy from when my subscription is up. At least this mob are cheap @ $40 US/year

There's also VPN in touch which uses IKE2, Its been my savior... (available on the market place as an app and you can pay via the store too. ! )

Thanks, CyberGhost is not overly torrent friendly tho, and they are doing packet inspection to explicitly block P2P packets which is a big no no from a privacy provider in my eyes. No DPI should be happening by a VPN provider so teh CyberGhost fails my needs unfortunately.
