[L640] Apps won't download?

[WPCentral Question]

i just purchased a lumia 640. ive completed all the setup correctly, and so i went into the windows store and straight to downloads to check which apps are the startups as i call them.
(they turned out to be;
facebook
video
music
health and fitness
device hub
HERE drive+
news
calender
skype
fitbit
games
money
lumia help+tips
weather
extras+info
onedrive
lumia storyteller
motion data
lumia beamer
network+
lumia camera
HERE maps
sport
travel
podcasts
lumia moments)

i verified my microsoft account but none of the apps will download. sometimes they will start downloading and go straight back to "need attention" and im given the same error code 80860010 but i have no idea what to do!
can anybody tell me how to fix this and get the to download?

additional info: ive been connected to wifi for the whole time whilst going through this process
