L920... :-(

I've bought L920 about a month ago after being with WP7 - HTC HD7 for years... Since I've been happy with WP7 my decision was to switch to WP8. After carefull consideration takeing in account all WP8 phones, specs, reviews etc. Lumia 920 was my phone of choice. On "paper" this phone was a beast! And I got it! Beautifull design, great screen and cam, navigation... It was finally mine! BUT... After about a week I've started to notice weird things happening with the phone itself.
1. It's becoming very hot when watching a video or playing a game
2. Battery is draining extremly fast
3. IT DRAINS OUT WHEN CONNECTED ON THE CHARGER!?!? Last time it happend yesterday when playing that new Microsoft solitaire.
So, OK... I bought a phone that I attend to USE ON THE GO not a desktop computer to be constantly connected to "the wall" (and even then it's not working).
I think that this IS a really big problem. The phone, like, has everything but, if you want to use the phone you have to turn EVERYTHING OFF otherwise the battery will drop dead in about 1.5 hours. 1.5!!! You cannot watch vids, play games or do serious stuff if you do not have power and a charger with you. And even then it will drain out when charging...
I loved my HD7 which never had those weird problems.
L920 is a beautyfull phone and thats it! For me, and I'm sure for many more, it's unusable.
I was thrusting reviews, official marketing, all the sweet talk and now I feel like I was "played". L920 is NOT a low end device by the specs, but...

Same as mine.. U must live with it.. Try to turn off data connection

Go to settings > applications > background tasks and turn off nearly everything except maybe weather. You especially don't need Nokia Drive running in the background. Turn off NFC and Bluetooth if you're not using them. Do some research and tweak some additional settings like the frequency of push notifications. You will be able to get great battery life out of the 920.

The thing is that everything is turned off. Location, data connection, live tile updates, all background tasks... It does not help. Something is seriously wrong, and I'm starting to feel that there is simply no solution...

May be you should condsider taking your phone to nokia care. i have no issues with my L920

My L920 runs easy 22 hours with Background tasks enabled and usage.
I dont have any drains or whatsoever.
Maybe your battery is faulted , take it back to the store.

Warming during games or watching videos is normal. It will cool down on its own when your done. Its the warming during idle times that worried me. When mine did I just turned it off for a minute, let it cool down and turned it on again. After a while, I just made it a habit to restart the phone in the morning to start fresh.

The warming is normal during that type of use. The battery drain is not. As someone else said, have it exchanged. I am on my second L920 and my first had the battery drain problem. On this one I do play the new Solitaire, Minesweeper and Mahjong and while the battery will drain faster while playing, which is to be expected, my phone will still last me all day.

I don't recommend living with it by doing the things here. Yes, you can, but then there's not much point in having a smartphone. Your issues are not normal, and the phone should be warrantied.

You are spot on. Any device will get warm when gaming or watching videos, and should not be warm when idle (unless it's charging).

Background tasks should be managed regardless of whether you need to get another one: there is no reason Nokia Drive (aka GPS) needs to be running all the time. It only needs to be running when you actually use it. That one switch has saved me hours of battery life on the 920.
