Latest Skype update brings Fast App Resume !

I lost all contact profile pictures.... Although messenger pictures are still fine

On my Lumia 820 on WP8.1 it used to resume in 5-6 seconds. Now it resumes in 0-3. It's variating a lot, but it's at least twice faster than before, which is awesome.

I just tested it. It took 9 seconds on my Lumia 1020 just sitting on the black screen that says "Loading..." :(

You get that constantly, regardless of how many apps you have open or how much time the app has been suspended ?

That's after being suspended for a day. Apparently it never turns off? It either shows Loading... or Resuming... I tried it again after about 3 hours and it was 3 seconds, and then i tried resuming right away from the multitasking menu and it was about 1.5 seconds. But still, obviously the app does not support fast app resuming, otherwise it wouldn't show that resuming... screen at all.

That's wishful thinking.

In any case, my experience with Skype has improved somewhat, so there's that.

I wish you would know how much hours did I spent to open Skype for the first time on my iPhone 4. It was loading the chat history and the phone was literally exploding. After I got a Lumia I realised that Skype for WP is actually a dream.

that's because the ios version loads the entire history like the desktop versions, the wp one just gets the last 10-20 lines of history, try scrolling up ;)

Yeah same here. it does not support fast resume.

Fast Resume doesn't mean it'll resume instantly. It means that the OS will reuse the same app instance when resuming instead of launching a new instance.

If the app is suspended and the user relaunches the app, such as by tapping on the app name in the app list or tapping the app?s primary Start Tile, by default the old instance of the app is terminated and a brand new instance of the app is created. This process is slower than resuming a suspended app and provides a different user experience. Windows Phone 8 introduces the ability for apps to request that user actions that would typically relaunch the app, such as tapping the app?s Start Tile, instead resume the suspended instance of the suspended app instance, if one exists. This feature is called Fast Resume.

Resume takes 5-6 seconds on my Lumia 620, is that fast switching? If I leave the app open in the background and then tap the Tile it just takes a couple of seconds to open/resume of course - is this what 'Fast Resume' means? Also why can't I switch accounts in version 2.19.0.172?
