Limited life for SD cards and USB drives.

I remember reading some time ago that USB drives and SD cards have a limited life expendency as to how many times they can be written too. While it is high it still could pose a problem if you are relying on a SD card for your apps. I tried getting more information on the subject; but there seems to be no comprehensive opinion as to just how long this writting limit is, and many say it does not exist.

Any sharp dudes out there have more knowledge than I have been able to compile on the subject. Just thought it might make a interesting subject for the fourm. Any takers.
 
I think it's something like 100,000 write operations, but can be as high as 1mil in some cases.
