Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if the live tiles will be update every minute as leaked in wp8.1?

Nope..! It's Not 1 min.. It's 15mins..!!
I asked the same question in one of the threads.. and got a reply from a dude who had WP8.1(emulator)..!!

Still better than 30... Hope it will decrease in official release!

I imagine the addition of a notification center lessens the need for live tiles to be updated more frequently.

I think people are more concern about apps providing widgets. I.e. Clocks

Good point. I would never use a clock app since time is always posted on the phone, but that is something to consider with some apps.

I think you got that from me and its actually not true. The documentation was wrong its still 30min. But whats now possible is that an app can schedule multiple tile updates 1min from each other to make it look like it updates more ofden. So e.g. a clock tile is now possible, but not something more active

its in the hand of Devs not users... hope the devs give the option in the app settings to the users as to how many minute refresh rate they want as i may need faster refresh rates in a weather and news app than another generic app... something on the lines of email sync time....

It's still 30 minutes. But there is a new multitasking/background feature that will update a live tile when a toast notification comes. So you can have the live tile updating even multiple times in 1 minute.

You mean with WP8.1 different apps will have different Live Tile Update time limit??

no but the scheduling of tile updates only works if you can predict what to show each minute 30 minutes before. You know what what time it is in 5 minutes so thats no problem. but getting an update from some internet resource is not possible because you cant know how the tiule has to change before refreshing it

I am still confused about how this works lets say for example

Mila Kuniz post on my facebook "Hey sexy" I will get a notification and 30 minutes later my live tile will display this but I already have a notification and check my facebook

And then, Scarlet Johansson post to my facebook "Hey Handsome" I will get a notification but my live tile is still a message from Mila Kuniz and would have to wait 30 minutes to see the live tile update to display ScarJo. Amerite?

Im talking about updates issued by the phone. NOT push notification which do not have this limitation

Anytime you receive a push notification / toast notification, it is my understanding that the notification can also refresh your Live Tile...no need to wait for 30 minutes. That is how it works currently and into the future also.

Also, when you open an app that could/will trigger another refresh of your Live tile, which could either push your newest post update to your tile or actually it could / would remove the notification of a new post (since it isn't new, you've read it)

The 30 minute limit [what pdelvo is talking about] is set for how frequently an app can call for an update without any outside interaction (ie the user opening the app or the Dev's server sending a Toast/Push)

So, if I understand, assuming there's no outside interaction: every 30 min the app can ask for an update. It collects then all the newest infromations.
The new thing here is that the app can "program" the tile with different aspects and with that give the impresi?n that it updates more frequently.

Am I righ?

I am slightly shooting from the hip here, but based on all that I have read (in the forums, not the official documentation) I'd sum it up like this...

The 'Job' will update your information on your tile. [What you call a "program" I think]
An App can run one specific 'Job 1' once every 30 minutes.
An App can run ANY of its various 'Jobs' (aka: Job 1 or Job 30) as frequently as every 60 seconds.

So in theory an app could have jobs running every minute, it would just be a bunch of different jobs.
