It was working on my 920 until the latest Nokia Camera beta update. I'm running the developer preview 8.1 on the Australian ROM as well.

We should write that to user voice. Devices have ability to use living images. But Nokia won't give this feature to old devices

Your right not only that but they also can do continuous autofocus but they have blocked it
And if someone is going to say that these features need quad core, go check the galaxy S3 as it has the same specs as my 920/1020 and it still has CONTINUOUS AUTOFOCUS

So it's official that we won't get it with cyan update according to users. I don't like Nokia that much anymore

For now, unfortunately NO! But there MIGHT be as i repeat MIGHT BE some hope as when I saw their Lumia Cyan Update Preview video on their YouTube channel, the living images part came and down bottom it was CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR 1520 AND 929/930! so that "CURRENTLY" can make a big difference...!

Edit: Or maybe it could be enabled for OLDER DEVICES by giving the app an update. Get what I mean?

On the Nokia Web page they say Living Image are just for 1520/930/Icon.
For sure they need more power to process those thing.
Maybe in futuure Living Image will come for other phone (920,925,1020,ecc)

Let me tell something, these so called LIVING IMAGES are nothing but little modified .GIFS. Sure there are two extra files when you take a pic as living image but its a GIF nothing more JUST LIKE CINEMAGRAPH. This app doesn't need horsepower so they are just blocking it for old devices. My 1020 was capable and is capable of capturing them and NO,there is delay in shot,no extra time is taken too! So this is done on purpose heck I even took ~25 photos with it and nothing happened eg crash, hang, freeze etc.
Also even though this feature might not come (I HOPE IT SHOULD AND IT WILL) can you tell then why do CONTINUOUS AUTOFOCUS needs extra horsepower??
This autofocus has nothing to do with S800. Even the Galaxy s3 which has same specs as 920 possesses this feature. Even in video mode, the lumias has continuous autofoucs so I don't see why you need SO CALLED MORE HORSEPOWER! This is all BS and I hope it doesn't stay like this as I really want both of these features!

I had this option on my 920. It was perfectly running
