W8/1Hello,

On my home desktop with W10 (upgraded from W8.1) if I put anything about the system in the Cortana search bar like 'index or device manager'
I always get a screen that says 'Search results aren't quite ready yet, but we are working on getting them together. Try again in few minutes.'

But this has gone on since W10

I tried to checked the windows index - there are 56 000+ items.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks,

what about typing regular things like lockscreen or system? I'm thinking device manager is still a setting not found in the new settings panel

Run the search and indexing troubleshooter.
Control Panel > Troubleshooting , then toggle "view all" on the left pane. All troubleshooters will be listed. Look for "Search and Indexing". When you click on it and it pulls up, click on "advanced" and run it as an administrator and apply all fixes automatically. Hope this helps.

Thanks, tried that - but it made no difference.
As soon as I type in anything in the search box, the error shows up.

There's a time my search from start wasn't working, somewhere in the 10586 builds but one of the updates fixed it. You've obviously been updating and if it has never worked since you upgraded to 10, maybe it's time for a reset? I know it would be a lot of work but it should take care of that and any other error or low performance
