So just got my white Lumia 1520 and it is awesome in every sense.
I however noticed a slight manufacturing defect i.e. a loose SIM tray. It doesn't come out abnormally , but wobbles slightly when tapped. I was wondering if any one else had this issue and if exchange would be a good option ? Other than this the phone is flawless

Any help / suggestion

I have white model too and it have same loose sim-tray. SD-card tray is tight fit. I noticed it right out of box but i don't care it so much any moore. Could be manufacturing problem on early models. Can't think any reason why it should be that loose.

Mine is loose. I don't care. As long as the phone functions properly I will not replace it.

So are you replacing it ? From where you purchased it. I got it from infibeam.com

Hi, new to these forums as I got my first windows phone on Thursday and it was the 1520.

The nano SIM tray in mine was also loose and I returned it on Friday. I spoke very nicely to customer services and they despatched a brand new one on Friday which arrived yesterday. I bought the handset SIM free so, for a 500 pound device (I'm in the UK) I was unwilling to accept some slight defect in the handset. The replacement device is fine.

May I ask where in the UK you purchased one from for ?500.

I'm also in the UK and am looking to purchase one.

Thanks in advance

See above.

I think I may "know" you from a well known AV Forum. I'm sure we've traded on there before.

I think you are right. I thought your name sounded familiar.

A bit off topic but have you purchased this phone? If so what are your Impressions?

Yes, i bought it from Handtec. I fancied a change from Android. The phone is a superb piece of hardware as it comes with all the bells and whistles. Solid construction, fantastic screen, it's very responsive and has a very good camera. I had reservations about switching to windows but it's come a long way since I used it last (about 3 years ago). I've found apps (mostly) for all my favourite android variants. Overall I'd recommend the handset.

Thanks, glad to hear you recommend it as my white one is due to be delivered tomorrow from clove.

Fingers crossed I'll like it as well.

I sent my white Nokia Lumia 1520 back to the retailer with the loose tray issue but they tested it and said it wasn't an issue with a 'no fault found' verdict. I have asked if they could refund me for the handset and they have. The handset itself is very fast and loud, WP8 has greatly improved since my Nokia Lumia 920.

HI,

mine is a nokia lumia 1520 red.
The sim tray and micro sd card tray are both loose.
Meaning its loose where the metal sim tray connects to the red plastic part.
The metal part is solid, so is the red plastic part. But the place where those two meet is loose.

In the iphone, both of them are metal. So, i guess its made from same part of metal.

Is this the problem everyone in this thread is talking about?

The sim was recognised, but couple of times lost signal.

Apart from that, Ok so far.

Would I need to get the sim card/micro sd card trays replaced?

May I ask when they were replaced, whether the new ones were not loose at all?

Thanks a lot!

Mine is a little loose too and it's brand new. I don't think it's a big enough deal to warrant a replacement as long as it works without a hitch.

They are known to be a bit loose, Daniel.

I keep my 1520 in this case, and so expect no problems as the tray is held firmly in place.

The case is slim so the phone still pockets well. The camera cut out has extra height to keep the lens from contacting a surface when the phone is laid down face up... And like I said, it holds that SIM tray in.

Best of all, it lets me flaunt the huge yellow body while protecting it.
