Loving the Lumia love @Engadget

I'm seeing a lot of mentions for the 920 in the comments which is encouraging.

iphone 5 is getting killed in the comments, and in typical Engadget fashion I'm guessing that they will shut down comments soon.

Unfortunately, you're probably right.

Is it December 21st yet? Even Ed Baig from USA Today wasn't as giddy as he usually is, and he's the biggest ****** there is.

Apple Boring?

So true, I actually expected the iPhone 5 to be at least a challenger as I'm very opening to exploring all upcoming technology, rather than becoming a ****** of any particular company. However in this case Apple was extremely underwhelming. I go with the company that pushes boundaries, not one that sets them. I must say this article hit it spot on when they evaluated the "Apple" of today's world.

BBC News - Viewpoint: Apple's iPhone launches no longer excite

What happened to innovation, color, passion, risk, the push to exceed boundaries and claim the untouchable as your victory? Apple used to at least impress me. Now I feel they just lay back and tout their "elite" status.

What do you think? Of course I'm biased towards Windows Phone and Nokia Lumia, but if Apple had developed the Windows Phone OS, I would dote on it still. The Windows Phone OS is something absolutely fresh and inspired. That freshness and uniqueness is what draws me back to Windows Phone every time. No one can claim they copied anyone. It's built from the ground up. It's revolutionary, not evolutionary like Apple.

I think the new iPhone will please the Apple faithful. That's what matters to Apple at the end of the day - they need to keep those customers that buy in to the Apple experience - iPhone, iPad, MacBook, AppleTV and a fortune spent on iTunes. They're less bothered about that guy who dabbled with an iPhone, subscribes to Spotify and Netflix but sticks with his Xbox and Windows PC.

Many of us would like to see something more exciting, but it won't happen quickly. They don't want to alienate their core users, especially when many of them aren't very tech-savvy.

I agree that the iPhone products are solid phones but there is nothing that makes them "So much better" but I wasn't surprised by the announcement the lackluster event or the fact people are acting like this thing has re-invented the smart phone market again when all they have done is take last years tech say its perfect now that they did it and sell it in a fancy box at a fancy store.

Yet the IP5 will sell mega-millions and be the #2 selling smartphone of 2012 behind the 4S only because it was available for 3+ months.

I'm not so certain that the 4S and 5 will share momentum. Lots of iPhone customers have dozens of old dock adapters all throughout their homes, bags, cars and lives. Switching will not be a piece of cake, and the 5 is "close enough" to the 4S that it doesn't necessitate "immediate upgrades."

When Lumia920 released, I said, its a good phone but...bla bla bla...

But with the new iDevice, I dont even feel like saying that...it seriously doesent even stand a chance against the mighty Lumia...

I would say that would depend on how the Lumia is released. If it has multiple carriers selling it in the United States and is being pushed by the salespeople, then they may have a chance outdoing the iPhone. But if they are just going to sell the Lumia on AT&T, then they are going to be smoked by the iPhone and any other Android device.

Engadget isn't half bad (in terms of their staff and reporting at least) these days. Some are not fans of Tim Stevens because he is uncharismatic / "boring", but I think it's a breath of fresh air to not have a bunch of opinionated egos running a site.

Imore forums are very mixed with people who are staying with what they have versus those that are buying it despite being underwhelmed
