Hi everyone. Switched to the 1020 yesterday. coming from a Z1 smartphone, I already have expected a bit of a slowdown stepping down to a dual core processor. I was just wondering if the lag really is just normal? I mean opening Viber and resuming other apps like Facebook takes a bit of time (compared to the Z1). Is it just really like this or is this because I'm running WP 8.1? Thanks in advanced for the info!

Hey welcome to WPCentral and congractulations for your lumia 1020. If you are running windows phone 8.1DP , then the lag is very much expected since there are bugs and issues with DP. Your phone also lacks a firmware update from Nokia (cyan update ) which should optimize the overall performance , new drivers , enable Bluetooth LE.

Hi Himanshu, Thanks for the reply. When would the cyan update be released and will I be able to apply it to my phone? (8.1 DP)
Thank you!

It depends on carriers. Most probably it will be available by this summer (July-August).
If you are not satisfied with bugs , slowness on your Lumia 1020 you can easily downgrade it back to windows phone 8.0 (backup your data before doing this ) via nokia recovery tool. I was having some serious GPs issues and battery drain problems on my Lumia 920. I am happily using my Lumia 920 on wp8.0+GD3update+ Nokia Lumia Black firmware update.

I guess I should try this out later. Thank you for the info!
BTW, when is 8.1 expected to be released publicly?

When the update comes, will it update my phone to the default update as well? or will it update to a certain dev edition update? also, will I be able to update to cyan if i stay at DP?

yup you will get all the updates (which includes the final version of windows phone 8.1+ nokia cyan update )

the quickest way to resume apps that are open is to hold the back button and enter the open app from the multi task windows , if you enter a open app from the live tile , you will often see the resuming screen and sometimes even the splash screen of that app ;-)

also devs need to update their apps to take adavantage of the new api's that Microsoft have allowed ;-)

you will get the update but only when nokia releases it on their servers for your phones product code ;-) it will be the full version of 8.1 with cyan as any other phone ;-) running 8.1 preview will not effect you getting any future updates ;-)

Yes. After using 1520 running on Snapdragon 800, I really find 1020 slow when comes to launching apps, especially Whatsapp.

my whatsapp is a bit tolerable, but the viber one is just insane. while it resumes in an instant on my android, on my 1020 it takes forever. but keep in mind I'm using a WP 8.1 dev edition. thinking of downgrading back to WP 8.

I'm also using a 1020 now & yes it is a bit laggy in certain scenario like activating the camera. It can't be helped since is running on a rather slow processor & WP8.0.
Cheers mate!

Actually after some time it starts to pick up. I'm still running WP 8.1 and it feels a bit faster after letting the new OS settle. But yes, I still do wish that thigns coudl get snappier. And of course, for the battery to last longer on the final release.
