Lumia 1020 locked to EE, but won't recognise T-Mobile SIM

I've bought a used Lumia 1020 locked to EE and assumed, wrongly I think, that it would work with my T-Mobile SIM. I'm just getting unrecognised SIM messages.

Both the phone and my SIM are UK items.

Anyone got any thoughts please?

Not as yet Laura. I think I may have a bigger problem that could also be causing the issue. Upon looking down the SIM card slot, it looks like I'm missing the top three SIM contact pins.
