I am thinking about getting the wireless charging kit but I am not sure if I need a wireless charging case for lumia 1020 in order to use the DT-900 or if I can use it directly. Any suggestions

hi, the 1020 doesnt have inbuilt wireless charging, so as you say, you would need to buy the 1020 compatible inductive charging shell (CC-3066)

The lack of built in wireless charging is a deal breaker for me. The wireless clipon charging shell is just too flimsy and cheesy. And people are having problems with it as well apparently. If this phone is released in an alternative version eventually, with a built in charging case, I would switch from the 920. But not as it is. Probably easier to get this phone if you haven't been spoiled by wireless charging before. :)

Hi have the wireless charging case. No problems at all and doesn't feel flimsy. Also it takes a lot off the camera bump out.

Yes iam using wireless charging shell as a cover as well it fits perfect....and camera bump is slightly covered. Iam enjoying wireless charging :)

I have to say, this is one of the things I was dreading switching from the 920 to the 1020. In the end, however, it has worked flawlessly for me as well.

Just like the endless posts about people having to get 5 920s switched out due to hardware failures, I have found that all the posts about wireless charging cover issues do not seem to apply at all to me. :-) I think we all tend to forget that people that are dissatisfied are much more vocal than those that never have an issue.

That said, I would infinitely prefer the wireless charging to be built in so that I could use whatever case I want (or none at all) and still have wireless charging. In addition, the parts to support it in the phone would cost about $0.02, as opposed to the $30-50 it takes to buy the add-on cover. It just makes no sense to split this out of the phone... build it in (or leave it built in if we're talking about AT&T!).
