On my old 520 I could tap at the top of the screen to see the status bar when it was hidden, on my new 535 that doesn't work and I cant see my battery when it auto hides? How do I show the status bar on full screen apps?

Aren't all the apps in Windows Phones full screen?

With the auto-hide option enabled*, you can simply swipe downwards from (not tap on) the top of the screen to show the "status bar" together with the notification center. Some apps have the option to permanently show the user the status bar, and that can be found (if available) in the app settings.

Similarly, you can show the navigation bar by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen.

*- Clarification: this pertains to the navigation bar at the bottom, yet the next clause pertains to the "status bar" on top.

Yes but some apps such as Internet explorer and a few others force the status icons off screen, I assumed it would work the same as my previous lumia and just tap at the top and it would re appear and then hide again, It obviously changed in 8.1, Its just a learning curve for me because this is my first time with 8.1. there are no options for the status bar under settings on the 535 btw.

thank you for the reply.

No problem, hope you'll like your Windows Phone experience along the way.

I've added a statement in my previous post for clarification.
