Pricing in my country, Portugal.

Who is going to buy a Tango device over a Mango device when the price difference is 10€? Besides, there are other cheaper Mango devices like the 1G, and you can even find 2G Mango devices like the Acer Allegro for 179,99€, that's 100€ less!

Is Nokia insane? How is this a "low-cost" Windows Phone? Seriously, what's going on, I can't understand this pricing, it doesn't compete with Android! What is Tango for then?

WPCentral, please try to get an answer from Nokia, this makes no sense. The price is final, not pre-order. The 610 is now available for purchase.

This is only hurting Windows Phone, I don't get it!

lol , that does sound a little weird.

4 things.

1: its PROBABLY cheaper on contract.
2: they over price it to MAKE you take a contract to make it worth it?
3: its a typo , did you call them for more info?

4: contact your carrier or Nokia your self for complaint, you can call them locally

1) Probably 250€, which is still expensive. The difference between unlocked and locked devices here is always about ~30€, and contracts aren't very popular.

Anyway, all Windows Phone around here showed up at the same price in carriers and unlocked, so I won't be surprised if the 610 shows up at that price in carriers.

2) No. Unlocked phone, no contracts exist.

3) No typo. 279.99€ is a price from various retailers, unlocked.

4) Already contacted Nokia when the pre-order price showed up. They just gave me a generic response. If I contact the retailer, they'll tell me to contact Nokia. So, no point in complaining by myself, pricing is 279,99€, unfortunely.

The only reasonable explanation that I can find is that Nokia will have a "cashback" offer. They've already done this here in Belgium. The first 2 months the Lumia 800 and 710 were on stores their price was 500 eur and 300 eur respectively. Now Nokia is offering a 100 eur cashback for the 800 and a 50 eur cashback for the 710. So I guess they will do the same thing with the lumia 610 and it would cost around 200, which is kinda, sorta competitive with android.

No cashback. It's insane. Major retailers like the Phone House have it on the front page:

Smartphones | Tablets | Telem?veis | Computadores Port?teis | Acess?rios | Loja online Phone House

"Cheapest Windows Phone on the market" - I lol'ed.
