Lumia 635 Verizon Alternatives

I really want to get my mom a cheap windows phone. Is there a Verizon compatible alternative to, say, the 635 or 520? I've looked and come up empty but figured I'd ask before closing the door on it entirely.

Actually the Lumia 822 is a much better device than the 635 or 520. I have two for sale in the Marketplace and would be happy to work out a deal with you via PM. Here are the links:

Thanks, I am interested. I'll contact you through DM. One question though, what does it mean, "Unlocked"? I thought CDMA phones couldn't be unlocked.

Verizon's phones are CDMA for voice but for data they use GSM. Also I guess FCC locked them into making all of their phones GSM unlocked when they got additional spectrum. So you can take any VZW phone overseas and pop in a local SIM and it will work for the most part. Sometimes people have SMS/MMS issues which may or may not be sorted out with the correct APN settings depending on the local carriers setup. For example SMS and MMS works fine for ATT but not for TMO on the Lumia 822. Voice and data work just fine on TMO.

Wow, I didn't know that. Does that work out the other direction as well? Can you take a ATT unlocked phone and pop in a Verizon SIM and it'll "mostly" work?

Nope, the reverse doesn't work

No worries, let me know if you need one. I have three in white and two in black, exact same condition. I am trying to get rid of all my extra devices so that I can purchase the Lumia 830 when it launches on TMO.
