If I put a 630 in the CR201 nothing happens, and that device does have NFC, so it is definitely a wireless charging circuit being detected.

BTW. I am still looking for a flex flat ribbon cable with 4 pins.
I also have an old Lumia 820 with a wireless charging shell. I noticed that the 820 has 4 pins on the phone with the flat contact plates in the charging shell. Comparing that to the 640 XL, I noticed that it appears to be set up for the opposite configuration with the contact plates on the phone and where the hypothetical charging cover would have pins inside the shell.

The act of wiring things into the phone itself is what has kept me away from going through with this modification. If I could figure out a way to connect everything to the battery cover where the contacts made connection when the cover is attached, I'd be willing to give it a try. Wireless charging is one of the 3 features that I really miss from my previous Windows phones - the others being a physical camera button and visual voicemail since I'm using AT&T on an international version of the phone.

I don't mind soldering some wires to the phone. I just don't want to ruin it. All I need is the schematics for the 820 charging module, but so far I'm unable to find them. :(

hi yang hu, i was trying to follow install, but i am confused by the 640xl GND and VOUT. From the first schematic, it shows x3305/GND is on the left (towards edge of phone), but your photo shows the green wire going to x1102 on the 920 charging coil from x3305 on 640. the last picture with "correct connection scheme is below" shows x3305/GND as being the second pin from left--not the left most pin closest to edge of phone. how were you able to determine the ground was not the left most pin? thanks in advance.

I tried this with a Lumia 820 QI Modul. But didn?t work.
The only difference in the schematic to the Lumia 920 is that there are diodes at 0VP_SNS, GPIO_33 and GPIO_3S.

I?m searching for the schematics for the Lumia 640XL so I can confirm what order the pins have inside the phone.
I can?t believe that it?s X3304, X3305, X3303, X3302. Something must be wrong here. It must be an other order of the pins.

Did someone get the charging working?

BTW. I am still looking for a flex flat ribbon cable with 4 pins. This comes close but the pitch is only 1mm. I measured the pitch of the 640XL connections to be 3mm. Maybe one can splice the 1mm pitch flex cable or use a 12 pin cable and only use every 3rd lead. Then slide the exposed ends into/under the sprinloaded 640XL connectors and tape them down to secure them and avoid soldering to the phone. Then fold the cable to be able to solder the other end to the L920 coil or alternative charging receiver (I am looking at one from a L830). If I can't find a wider pitch one I will give this a try soon.
cheers

you can get a clear ribbon cable or a piece of tape and draw the wires with wire glue. It's pretty easy and doesn't require soldering

IR Blaster is actually useful, like turn on your tv when you cant find the remote. I would love to have one on a Lumia.
I have done an ir blaster diy before. You solder 2 ir leds to a headphone jack and a receiver to the mic port. Record each button of your remote using voice recorder then play the recording.

I bought the 920 wireless charger to mod the lumia 640xl but made such a mess of soldering and burned off the copper contacts on the 920 piece. Anyone have advice on a way to attach regular wires without making a soldering massacre?

I bought the wire glue... man this stuff is hard to use. Any tips? It takes forever to dry and it so messy.

At least I'm having fun feel like it's arts and crafts time!

I can feel myself starting to OCD on this!

I have a Lumia 820 charging case. It is a 4 pin configuration. If I put it on my Qi base, I get +7v across the outer pads. So the question is, are the EN and DET pins on the receiver specific? That is, is this a loop with a positive and negative?

I would guess from the gut the pin DET is 'detect'. Looking at the schematic it looks like both circuits are the same. Some kind of charge rate detection and control sensors? If the EN and the DET are reversed, will it cause damage? Could EN and DET be completely ignored and use the GND and OUT pins only?

Actually, I stoped using the Lumia charger and started using the Samsung Galaxy charger for the model with the USB 3.0 connection. The charger is rated 5.3 volts and 2.0 amps. I knew the increase wouldn't hurt the phone, but to my surprise the amp load is acceptable, and the phone doesn't get hot. From dead to 100%, on airplane mode in about 90 minutes. Not bad. Though I wouldn't recommend going past 5.5 at 2.8. I'm sure the phone would power on at even 6 volts, but surely would have some issues. If you push past 5.5, do it at your own risk. Higher volts doesn't always add up to more headroom. And my data cable from my old Nokia 3310 fits better in the phone and it's 12 years old and has no rubber coating. The braided ground is entirely exposed. They may look alike, but all micro usb connectors are not the same. The result of substandard parts sometimes used to scale down price.
