My friend is really interested in the 735 but as we know, it's not available with a US carrier yet.

I saw it at Expansys for $299. I told her about it but she wants to make sure she can use it on LTE in the US. anyone with experience that can help me advise her?

I have two on order from B&H, arriving early next week. Will post assessment using T-Mobile in Southern California afterwards. The bands B&H report the device having should work for T-Mo LTE, and I assume/hope they took that right off the box. Other sources report different bands, which won't really be that great for data (21Mbits/s at best on T-Mo if those are true).

I email Expansys and got back the it will work with Sprint!

I am patiently waiting for the Central America model to be release that will work on T-Mobile and AT&T LTE!

B&H is selling it too? What is their site?

Yeah, my friend would be pissed at me if it didn't work for LTE. I can't proclaim it as US LTE compatible, and then it turns out to work only on HSPA+ in the US because the frequencies are different. Yeah, she should do the research but she's not a tech person and she's going with the phone based on what she's read and my advice (she's coming from an iPhone 4S). I want her first experience with Windows Phone to be a good one.

Anyway, I think I found the site. Their northAmericaLinks.pdf says US LTE is 2, 4, 17. And the specs on that site say:

4G (LTE ) Bands:2, 4, 5, 7, 17
3.5G (HSPA+, UMTS/WCDMA ) MHz:850, 900, 1900, 2100
2.5G (EDGE, GSM/GPRS ) MHz:850, 900, 1800, 1900

So that means it's good to go for pretty much all US networks?

Yes, that is what the site says, but that is the only place I have seen proclaiming those bands for the 735. Their return policy says they will take them back within 30 days, which is why I felt comfortable buying them.

Subscribing to hear how this goes on T-Mobile. I'm about to switch to T-Mobile and am considering doing what you already did - buying two 735's from B&H. Let us know if LTE works or not! Thanks!

Okay, now I'm worried. The official Lumia 735 says:

Nokia Lumia 735 Specifications - Nokia

GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz
GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 296.0 kbps
GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps
WCDMA network: Band 1 (2100 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 8 (900 MHz)
WCDMA max data speed DL: 42.2 Mbps (Cat 24)
WCDMA max data speed UL: 5.76 Mbps (Cat 6)
LTE FDD network: Band 20 (800MHz), Band 3 (1800 MHz), Band 7 (2600 MHz)
LTE max data speed DL: 150 Mbps (Cat 4)
LTE max data speed UL: 50 Mbps (Cat 4)

The wikipedia page for T-Mobile says LTE 2, 4, 12
wiki for AT&T says LTE 2, 4, 17
Sprint says LTE 25, 26, 41
Verizon says LTE 4, 13

So it's looking like HSPA+ if you get the international 735?

And that one will not get HSPA+ on AT&T (at least not in Tucson, I had one for a few days).
AT&T here (again, at least in Tucson, Arizona) uses Band 2 (1900) for their HSPA+ band in most areas of town. I did find a very small zone that used band 5.

Yep, that was why I checked the return policy before I ordered mine from B&H, which is the only place I have seen those bands listed. If B&H listed incorrect info, I'll just return the 735s. Will find out hopefully tomorrow.

I received my two devices from B&H today, and will head to my local T-Mobile store to get nano SIMs soon.

Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.bands 2.jpgbands.jpgWP_20141111_10_00_13_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_00_32_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_00_41_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_05_10_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_05_40_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_32_31_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_33_41_Pro.jpgWP_20141111_10_34_08_Pro.jpg

Steve Penner,

Does 735 work and if so; what bands? 3G, LTE, etc... I know that "voice calls" will work on any phone on T-Mobile! I am on T-Mobile too!

If you use Sprint do not buy any phone other than a Sprint phone. CDMA works differently than GSM, and you can not use a phone the carrier has not provisioned. Some bands might overlap, but it will never register on the network. You can only use unlocked phones on GSM carriers

Looks promising. The box and manual seem to match what B&H stated. That would be awesome. I might pull the trigger soon. Thanks for posting and let us know how it goes!

Looking at the specs on the box, it would support ALL bands on T-Mobile and AT&T. So you pretty much get 3G/HSPA+ and LTE on both the carriers, even in a non-T-Mobile refarmed area....and the phone does support AWS.

Looks hopefully, did a chat line with T-Mobile tech support and she said: Needs to have these frequencies before it will work!

T-Mobile needs to be on 1700/2100 MHZ(GSM) and LTE 700MHZ for band 12 new one for penetrating buildings, 1700/2100MHZ, band 4!

I am patiently waiting for the answer from Steve!

Got further details on the RM-1039:

http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_735-6639.php

General
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600

There is no 1700MHZ but there is a 2100 on 3G GSM.

No idea if it will work on 3G?

So no 2G and no 4G access!

http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_925-5451.php
From the specs of the T-Mobile 925 :
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - RM-910, RM-893
LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - RM-893

Yes, have LTE. Waiting to complete restore so I can run speedtest with a stable state and show results via pic.

To be clear, yes, I have LTE on 735 on T-Mobile in San Diego.

That wonderful! I will wait for the full result before I order! I was going to use Expansys but I don't want to have any chance I get some other model so I might jump the gun and order before you get everything posted. I know that Wednesday is the day to order for Expansys.

Thanks again for being the frontiersman on the RM-1039!

See the proof for yourselves. Please note that this is the RM-1039 version. I can't find any documentation that supports the bands that this device actually has besides what is listed on the B&H site and the product documentation that came in the box, but nonetheless it is confirmed to work on T-Mobile with LTE. Haven't tried HSPA/H+ but I assume that it will work based on the supported bands.

Just a quick assessment based on a couple of hours playing around: it is really light. It is way faster than the Lumia 521 I used personally, and not terribly slow compared to the Lumia Icon I get from work. Very happy with the upgrade so far. Since it has the same internals as the 830, I can say that $450 is more than I would want to pay for the performance and camera when I could get a 1520, 930, or Icon for just a little more. $300 is a fair price for the Lumia 735.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the device.
