Lumia 810 dies after being plugged in when "battery critical"?

Just recently it started doing this. I've had it for a few months, and it's on 8.1 dev. For the last few days, it's been doing that. I've let it completely die and charge it, but it still dies after being plugged in when the battery's critical Any tips? Thanks!

Set it into the freezer over might, the battery's cells may just need to recrystalize. Typical with most lithium batteries.

You really think it'd work? That sounds kind of frightening, especially the freezer part..
