this thread is utter nonsense im sorry to say
since when is windows phone massively spec hungry that its getting compared to cheaper android phones
this is the straight looking horse situation, look at the whole deal not just specs etc
this is windows phone we are talking about, one of the most secure and best optimised os till date (so is ios but not as much as wp)
my 720 with dual core and 512mb ram doesnt lag and runs games perfectly without lag, whereas most quad core and even octa core mediatek androids lag like crazy
you can compare the 830 with a moto g but forget that its a NOKIA,Nokia stands for build quality , the best after sales in any brand till date, phenomenal battery life and cameras, updates are filled with new features unlike ios and android where each update is massively overhyped as though wp7 devices got 8.1 or something(dont mean to offend anyone but what i meant is android L and ios 8 arent really counted as major updates imho) also since windows phone is well opimtised and secure something android will probably never be,the cpu doesnt mean it performs bad
i hate when people base stuff purely off specs even though the phone is yet to release and given by previous experience i can safely conclude the 830 is going to be the best 30-series lumia(beating even the 930 im sure)
The only downfall of windows is the app gap. But still, why do all the people always focus on apps, games? Some of my family members have windows phones, even as old as Lumia 710, they're still quite happy with it. Because it at least has the basic apps for day today use. Also windows phones are good for business, not all of them buy phones by looking at the number of apps. Windows phones doesn't lag & is surely a hell lot stable as compared to Android. Talking about Lumia 830, snapdragon 400 is fine, because if Microsoft used 600 or 800, then surely the price would have increased. Its fine for a higher mid ranged phone.
Tbh the 830 can compete with the iPhone. 10mp camera vs 8mp. 720p vs almost 720p custom resolution. However the iohone 6 will probably blow this phone away.

So, people are disappointed because the 830 doesn't have all the top end specifications (over the 930 and 1520) for the cheapest amount of money.
Get real people!!!!! I suspect this phone will run quite well. Maybe a worthy replacement for the brilliant 920??
In the words of a song, "You don't get something for nothing..."
I'm buying the 830! I use the 635 and find that it's a great phone but the camera just lets me down too often. the 830 is absolutely perfect for me!!
I don't think the price in North America would be higher than $350 off-contract, the cost of goods across regions are usually different (see variances in Xbox One prices).
As for Qi charging, it's enabled via Qi charging shell on the Lumia 830. So even if the carrier (e.g. AT&T) doesn't support the standard itself, one can potentially gain it by buying the right accessories.
And the Lumia 830 isn't a high-end successor, it's essentially a mid-range phone with nice bells and whistles (such as PureView). I'd say the new design and HD screen are a meaningful update over the Lumia 810.
WPCentral is one of the few sites for supposed enthusiasts where the (again) supposed enthusiasts frequently go out of their way to badmouth new product releases they have never touched. Yes, there are those who whine and complain in every forum on the internet but count the number of glorified tantrum posts in virtually every WPCentral forum. If you don't want the device then don't buy it. Beyond that all this amounts to is a rant based upon no substantive data. I honestly think Microsoft could give its products way in solid gold boxes and numerous people here would immediately complain that they didn't use platinum.
BTW, it would be nice if some of these truly brilliant market analysts would list their areas of employment, levels of education, other training, and business successes so that everyone can have a context for their insightful commentary....
People don't buy Moto G because it's better. They buy it because it's in stores. And they need a phone. And it's cheap. And, well, it's right there. Might as well get it. And did I mention it's actually in the store, so they can buy it?All debating aside, the Moto G is going to out sell both of the new Lumia's by a wide margin. What people on the WPCentral forums believe to be the better device, and what the general public believes is always way different.
Ah, here's the thread regarding the Nokia Lumia 830. I'm not going to bother reading more than the first two posts, because I don'[t see the point.
The Nokia Lumia 830 features an Optical Image Stabilization camera, 10mp with dual-tone LED flash and new software features not found in any other Nokia. You can argue all you want about the phone, and yeah a 1080p screen and a better CPU would've been nice but that camera is impressive at the price. It's the world's thinnest OIS camera in a smartphone, and it's the selling point of the entire phone.
