Lumia 920 bug. Phone still 'charging', even when unplugged. WTF.

I've had my Lumia 920 since January, and despite a few niggles (where for art thou static IP's & VPN settings?!), I'm really happy with it.

However. A few days ago I was sitting down with my phone on my coffee table in front of me, when all of a sudden I heard that familiar 'bling-bla-blong' sound that denotes I have connected my charger. But, as I'm sure you are aware by now, I hadn't. Nor had I placed my phone onto a QI charging plate, as I do not posses one.

Puzzled by this turn of events, I restarted my phone and things returned to normal. Until a few hours later it started magically 'charging' again!
This time I'd thought I'd leave it for a while, and see what happened. Maybe my apartment block had recently been coated with wireless charging capabilities!

After about two hours of watching my battery meter fill, I restarted again and lot and behold my phone was almost dead!

Additional wackiness: Now, when I restart turn off my phone when the 'charging' occurs, I have to wait a good 10+ minutes to be able turn it back on again!

So, I put it to you, dear community. What gives?! Has anybody else experienced such phenomena? Or am I just special?!I6yPETy.jpg

You're special. Well, either you have a bug in your OS, a bug in something you've installed, (something I still maintain is the cause of a lot of problems) or faulty hardware. Don't sweat this. You can hard reset and start all over to see if the problem returns or just send it back to have it replaced. But don't sit on it. Time is something you don't have.

I figured software too, so I ran the Nokia software updater that came out recently. Set up my phone nice and fresh and everything was peaches and cream, until earlier today, when the same thing happened.
I really want to love this phone, as I loathe Android and iOS is just dull. I hope that maybe another update (blue maybe) will fix everything, because I can't justify buying a new phone so soon.
Oh, and returning it isn't an option! I bought my phone in Thailand, and I live in China!

I thought I was the only one with this issue.. I was at school and I felt a vibration from my phone, I looked and it was "charging itself". Ive only had it happen once, but to see someone else say the same thing must mean it is a bug in the system or something. I even thought it had something to do with my transit system's smart card being in the same pocket (cause of NFC).. I just did not have a clue what was going on!

I'm sorry that you're also experiencing this 'bug', but it at least gives me some hope that it may not be hardware related.
I've found the only way to 'fix' this issue, is to soft reset each time it begins charging. However you shouldn't turn off the phone , as for some reason, at least on mine, you may have to wait an extraordinarily long time to be able to turn it back on again!
Good luck, and keep me posted.

I have exactly the same issue with my Nokia Lumia 920 for about a 6 months, still no solution found.
I think there are much more Lumia users, which experience this problem too.
Probably this problem is due to some hardware and/or software bug.
I think most of the users (I am among them) solve the issue by restarting the phone and don't report about it anywhere.
Very annoying for me, will try to contact the local Nokia service.

You are not crazy. Same bug showing up here on Lumia 920 and on Lumia 1520 in my household.

Reportedly from my daughter, once you enter into this bug mode, it doesn't charge while plugged in either. You have to reboot - get rid of bug before you start charging if you want it to take a charge. Otherwise it is dead when you come to use it. I have not tested this bit, but I have seen the mysterious "thinks it is charging" bug on my 1520.

My wife's 920 is having the same trouble. We have to reboot to stop it from "ghost charging", but sometimes it comes back within a few minutes. It seems to be getting worse. Our phones are about 15 months old now. We are not due for an upgrade yet and like the 920 besides this issue. My 920 has not had this issue. Both have been updated to 8.1 with no change.

Anybody take theirs back to ATT or Nokia care to see if they would do anything? I have been tempted to open up the case to have a look around, but don't want to do that unless I have a replacement...just in case I can't get it back together LOL

Finally have taken my 920 to Nokia Care service. They have changed (at no extra charge because of valid warranty) two parts of the phone: touch sensitive glass (they wrote that in phone repair list) and some part of phone case. After that it looks that phone works properly now, that is, no unexpected (and annoying) charging occurs when phone is unplugged at all.

I've been experiencing this for a while. I don't have a Nokia Care Service near me. I've had the phone going on 1 1/2 years. Wonder if AT&T can correct the problem? It is annoying to say the least. Happens to me several times a day.

FYI: In a few days after the "repair" the bug occurred again and still occurs several times a day. WTF. I'll take my phone to the service for a third time. And next time, if the problem still exists, will try to return the phone and require my money back.

To Andrei: I've been tried several times, didn't help.
To All: I will try a few another solutions found in internet. I'll keep you informed.
