Lumia 920 GPS is not good

Seems to be hardware defect then. My device is very accurate, at least 5 meters with A-GPS inside the city. Didn't try in rural areas or on a road (without wifi or cellular signals), though.

was having inaccurate GPS location issue when it's new, try using it for longer time after a few restarts..
also try to go outdoor instead of indoor when determining your current location...
mine works after several attempts and been accurate ever since...

:)

GPS positioning in Nokia is really bad. Tryed Edumondo, RunTastic and Marathon. After testing these apps i get a 600! 600 meters off in length. Nokia City Lens or what its called calibrates really bad.
Draining power and what not i can live with....but 600 meter.

I've not had any problems with the GPS on my 920. It accurately locks onto my location. I've used it for Geocaching, getting me down to accuracy of several feet.

I have not had any problems with the GPS on my 920. It quickly locates me and Drive+, for example, routes me in a matter of seconds after starting the application.

mine works fine, indoor, outdoor... few seconds and get locked. also went climbing and in the middle of nowhere with just phone signal, but not even 2g connection, still get locked and accurate to a few mt (i was on the top of the mountain, so it was pretty easy to see that i was in the right place).

Hmm sad to hear some of you having these issues. My L920 GPS has be dead accurate using HERE maps and HERE drive+. Even works when I am indoors..

Toronto, Canada here.

mine also has issues after the most recent Here maps/drive+ update. It used to be quick and dead accurate. Now, I had to be online for it to get my location..

It really is hard to pin-point the cause of the problem unless you plug it into a diagnostic machine.

People can give you their experiences an fixes, but that might not work for you. GPS issues could be caused by number of things. Hardware, Software, weather, signal, carrier.

works pretty good while on a plane!

I just upgraded from an HD7, and the 920's GPS is definitely more accurate than I was used to. Had me pinpointed in my office building, where the HD7 would always center between the towers, which was usually a couple of blocks over.

I don't have GPS problems with Nokia Drive but Runtastic and Endomondo are both inaccurate when I trail jog. Yesterday I ran a marked trail and at 3 miles Runtastic read 2.8 miles. Last week I ran the same trail and at the 3 mile mark it said 2.5 miles. I don't have an explanation for it.

The GPS signal with Runtastic Pro has been utterly dreadful for the past 2 days for me. I've been for long walks and I constantly hear "GPS signal lost". At this precise moment in time, I'm sat on a bench in a park after walking at a brisk pace for 75 minutes and I've only covered 3kms according to Runtastic. Similar story yesterday too...walked for over 2.5 hours and covered 8kms when I would usually cover about 11 or so. It may have something to do with a recent update to Runtastic but it has been a bit flaky since I got the 920.

Every one, I have been facing this issue for around a week and finally found that i am using multiple map app in my device. I cleaned all of them first (gmap, here) then installed the here map only. Now my phone GPS is working as expected. It is the google map that was spoiling my phones GPS i think. You can also follow my way if you are with a similar situation. Good Luck

So. Is there any conclusive fix for this issue? My 920 GPS is inaccurate, keeps moving around or stay in place while driving.

It's pretty useless.

I have 5-8m accuracy outside under good conditions (no trees). Same or better than my previous phone - Galaxy S3.

No issues here in Ontario. Dead fast and accurate. Usually finds my location in under 10 seconds, my TomTom takes several minutes.

Previously, for example, when I was at home, Here Maps would think I was next door which was still only out by 30 or 40 feet, but, now it always shows me dead on where I am. They may be better, now, but military GPS's were only accurate within 10 metres, so I figure I'm well off.

I compared 920 with HD7 side by side and the result is clear. The HD7 is dead accurate in seconds, while the 920 keeps jumping around, sometimes several hundred meters or even more. My 920 gps hardware is bad. Or is it software?

with my 900 I had similar issues 2 or 3 times but never for very long. No similar issues with the 920.
