Lumia 920 not opening

so today I left my phone in the charger (it was 3% and charging) and went out for about twenty minutes then came back to open it and it didn't open no matter what. I guess the problem isn't with the charger because my charger can normally charge my brother's Nokia Lumia 620. I have a Nokia Lumia 920 running Windows Phone 8.1 (no Lumia Cyan on it) and it is not opening at all. Can I get any help?

Leave it on charger for a few minutes then press volume down plus power button till the phone vibrates then you can leave the buttons and phone should start, give it a shot

thank you it worked but I wanted to ask why this would normally happen to my phone, my phone was overheated when it didn't work

It's probably an app or the OS stuck on a process that freezes your phone
