Lumia Dolby Surround Sound- Gimmick or real deal?

So like the post says, do yall think the Dolby surround sound features on Lumia phones are gimmicks? I've been playing around with the setting on my Lumia 1320 and I get much better results from just adjusting the equalizer with Dolby off. When I turn it on, the music sounds hollow and too spaced out. Loses some punch in the bass too.. Will see if I can test it further with some movie clips or trailers with Dolby audio tracks. But so far, I'm not impressed. Oh btw, I've used some Samsung ear buds and a Numark HF-125 head phones to test. The Samsung buds have great bass response surprisingly.
