Yup! I got it! In the last 5 minutes, I was doing something else, checked my ranking and I was at 201! And quickly brought it back up to 170 lol

Has anybody actually read my Magic Realms review on WPXbox? I guess not, otherwise you wouldn't talk with me any more. ;)

Ok, I read it. And I do agree with a couple points. One is the pairing system as it is bad and needs some tweaking. Two is the inability to control PvP battles. That would add a bit of skill and strategy to the game.

As for your claim that it is a game for the rich I think is way off. I am a level 57 player and consistently defeat players who are 5 to 10 levels higher than me. And sometimes, in Kingdom War, I have defeated players 20 to 30 levels higher. I have 7 five star cards, around 40 four star cards and a few of the three, two and one star cards as these go to enchant other cards. Almost all of my 4 and 5 star cards are at level 10 and what isn't is at least level 5. I also have almost every rune available and all my 5 star runes are at level 4. And I haven't spent a penny on in app purchases. It is possible to play and succeed in Magic Realms without spending any money. I do spend gems but there are many ways to earn free gems throughout the game and with the regular events.

I realized, they reserved "manual" PVP through the world tree event. That's where it went lol.

Also, I'll admit I spent some money lol.

@dkp1977 ( Sorry, Mark.) , I didn't know you're a writer like Paul. I don't follow wpxbox, but after your post here, i went and read your article there.
As Nighthawk said, the game has certain downs like
1. Automatic fighting systems in PvP battles and KW, but the devs could've provided an option for this under Settings, as they provide for Auto-fighting in maze battles.
2. Dropping 4-5* star cards rarely when you buy the booster packs or tokens. Most of the times, usual 2-3* cards drop when buy booster pack. If case of special booster packs (Ex: Winged exile) , the possibility of getting the card is 1 in 20-30.
3. Bugged chat-system that won't work sometimes.
4. Energy system which adds 20 free energy @ 12.00 and 18.00. It would be better if we have 100 energy per day.
5. No option to buy gems/token based on the gold you receive daily. There should've been option for this.

The game is not that much bad - If you know how to play and what you're doing in MR, you can thrive well in the game. I haven't spent a single penny till and i haven't got more special cards either.

I was not aware of free gems based on daily events till a month before. Am sure, most of the players didn't knew you will get -
1.300 free gems on Wednesday, if you complete 10 PvP matches.
2 300 free gems on Thursday, if you thief a thief.
3.300 free gems on Friday, if you buy 2 booster packs (300+300 gems) or 20 booster cards (20*30 gems)

So basically, u would've 300 gems for any given week accumulated and with a strategy you can save more gems for any special cards or events.

Btw, i contacted the devs and they've migrated my Quicklogin username to a permanent account associated with a mail ID. :cool:They're very helpful, IMO. We're 80,000+ more to reach Clan level 8.

@Nighthawk & @Lumia

I know that there are several ways to get gems, that's what I specifically pointed out. But for someone working full time, it's kinda hard to participate in most events. Especially, when you're in Europe. Kingdom Wars are at 4am over here. That's just one example though. Btw, I never ever received gems for making 10 PvP matches. No matter what day of the week. And I used to make 15 matches each and every day.
I've concluded the article with saying that Magic Realms is still a great game to spend time with, despite the fact that it's hard to build the perfect deck. I don't remember exactly how many gems I've spend on booster packs, and I almost never got anything good. That's what bothered me the most. It's damn hard to build a good working deck, let alone more than just one deck, which you would need in later stages of the game, to achieve 3 stars in each level. If it were just the cards, but you need to level up each card as well.. That requires a lot of gold. Nevertheless, I had some good months playing Magic Realms. But I've found that the way Order & Chaos Duels works, suits me more.

Re: Magic Realms and Lies of Asteroth - The best collectible card games for Windows Phone!

@dkp1977 - I totally accept that. The possibility of getting a good card from packs/maze is rare and from special booster pack is ultra rare. You will never knew when you will get. It's pure luck. To give an instance, I got my TG only when i reached Level 61, whereas i saw a Level 5-guy holding TG enchanted upto Level 5 (Upto Exile ability).

I haven't got many good cards like the top level players - but with my deck i can hover 500~800 position in rank. As for me, pairing specific runes with normal cards is a better deck than random runes with high attack cards. Most of them, just use general runes like (Eruption/Tornado which will do 200-400 damage to 3 of the random cards). Even if one has mixed deck like 4 forest, 2 swamp, 1 tundra, 1 mountain - picking a rune which benefits all the cards is a great idea. (For example: Spring breeze gets activated when there's >1 Forest card in hand and it restores 240 HP to all cards irrespective to all cards).

I've played OCD for a brief amount of time and amazed at the artwork - but the learning curve in OCD is somewhat steep. I've played for at least 10 days here and there, but didn't fully understood the concept. So, in the end - it all depends on the taste of the user.

Btw, we are only 30,000+ clan money short of achieving Clan level 8 which will open up another 2 slots (24+2). Within 1 week, (On sep-1, we're short of 1,10,000+) we've gathered around 80,000+ clan money.

Great work, guys..

I've had quite good cards and was able to maintain a rank around 1100 for some time. But during my vacation, where I wasn't able to play that much, I dropped to ~3000 and wasn't able to recover from that. Kinda pissed me off. :D

OaCD is pretty straight forward to play. It's a good mix of Magic The Gathering and Yu Gi Oh, if you ask me. More complex than the latter, less complex than the former. :) You should be able to fully understand the game mechanics after successfully completing the tutorial. All the basics are in there. :) You should really give it another try. The cool thing is, that the cards always come with their full effects. You can't level them. And even though I got a lot of crappy cards from booster packs and even from the cheap 1000 gold single card thingy, I've also got a considerable amount of great epic cards from it. Way more than I ever got in MR.

Anyone clearing 12 yet?
Am just started with 12. It's too difficult to complete even the 1st level.

Btw, we only need 4000+ for Clan level 8. I kicked 2 inactive players out and there will be 2 open slots from clan level 8 - so totally 4 OPEN SLOTS will be available in our clan shortly.

Hurray, we are 8 now. =)

And the event, 12 is like a dream. I can't even clear map 8 at 1st lv, nothing to counter fire demon and turtle =))

Re: Magic Realms and Lies of Asteroth - The best collectible card games for Windows Phone!

the darn API issue didnt let me use the wpcentral app >_<

anyway, my tip for beating map levels is using the "guide" option when you click on the level. it shows you (for free) what cards will be used and what cards other players used to beat the stage. I'm currently 3 starred up until 12-6. only stopped because my phone shut off even though its plugged in... playing too much :sweaty:

i would counter this with terra cotta warrior or even arctic wizard, pretty much a tundra based deck. To hinder the snapping turtle, you'd want to stun it with lightning or even make it miss all together with Polar Bear Born/Arctic Cephalid. Also if you have the Dire Snapping Turtle hit Frostree Folk/Elf Guard first, the ice shield would take most of the damage and the other adjacent cards would receive the same "reduced damage"

Oh and runes are important for these type of battles. For example, if you fight a Swamp based opponent, you might want to consider getting Transparency so your cards get a boost when there are more than 1 swamp on there side. Same with Explosion against a Forest deck. In your case against a Mountain opponent, I'd equip Avalanche.

Damn, you guys are sick. :D Kinda reminds me of the good ol' days of my youth, when I was addicted to Magic The Gathering. I knew all kinds of awesome combinations for decks with Mana costs, attack and HP as well as effects from several hundred cards.
You should consider writing a deck creation and level guide. :)

Hell yeah, I opened just 2 packs on Friday and got a Fire Demon

First of all, thank you sparkie. But really, I didn't expect a detailed suggestion like this when I said that =))
Still, do you think a tundra-mountain deck would suffice? Since you know, building a whole new tundra deck is too costly. I'm thinking of mixing 5 mountain card I already have with 5 tundra: Glacial Interceptor, Polar Bearborn, Terra cotta warrior, Arctic mermaid and... The last one I don't really know, Snow Lotus Sprite, Arctic wizard, Crystal golem or Frost troll mage (mage has only 1 advantage, which is she's already lv6) ?
For the runes, should I go Arctic freeze and Permafrost instead?

Btw, does Reflection counter skills like Smog and Toxic cloud? I really hate Reflection, it trashed my AOE deck back when I played map 7. Since then I have to turn from AOE to concentration X_X
