Main Camera Black Screen Issue

Hi All,

So for the past few weeks Iv have been unable to use my main camera as it just shows a black screen and sometime the app wont open at all.

I have tried everything.... Soft, hard resets and even re-flashing through Nokia Recovery Tool with no joy.

I have rang my local phone repair service and they have a new camera for my phone and I was planning on taking it in tonight or tomorrow morning depending on when I get chance to pop in to get the camera replaced.

I was just wondering if anybody on here have has had the same problem and know if replacing the camera will fix the issue?

If you went through all of that and the issue is still there, it's most likely a hardware related issue

We haven't had anyone complain about this specifically (afaik), but some did complain about minor black dots in their photos..

Did you try downloading 3rd art camera apps from the store to check if the issue is still there? Did you remove that back cover to check if nothing is blocking the camera?

Yeah I download third party camera app to check and it was the same situation screen was just black.

All I could see were the onscreen buttons and the focus hoop I the centre.

When I switch to the front camera all is good and lumia selfie app runs as normal.

No I haven't moved the back to check nothing is blocking it. I would of thought ud be able to see that without removing the back.

Yesyou would Just checking if you went through all the steps In any case you're getting the camera module replaced right? Keep us updated will ya

Damn it went in this evening to get the camera installed... Turns out there supplier sent them the wrong one. So now need to wait another two weeks!

Sounds like a camera to me. I hope they aren't charging you too much. It's about a $20USD part, and a 5 minute install.

I don't know about where to get them in Australia. Have you tried everyone's favorite ebay? BTW - the Icon camera is exactly the same - you find it under Icon/929 as opposed to 930. I have a couple, but it's probably cost prohibitive to ship to you.

I ended up going the ebay route and got it shipped to my UK address as I was spending Christmas in the uk with family. I installed it myself so it ended up costing my 20gbp ($40) so glad as I didn't want to spend so much on a phone I wasn't keeping.
